An Engaged University
COL Banner

WSU's increasing commitment to an engaged teaching pedagogy is increasingly evident. There have been a number of new initiatives developed and implemented; steps have been taken to assess engagement pedagogies on campus; and faculty, staff and administration have begun to build the support structures necessary to increase the number and effectiveness of engaged teaching and learning opportunities on campus.  Some examples of recent initiatives include:

Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts
Spruce up Winona Day
Community-based learning in Computer Science

The University is establishing an interdisciplinary Center for Engaged Research, Teaching and Scholarship (CERTS) which will be responsible for articulating and implementing engaged teaching, research and scholarship activities on the Winona and Rochester campuses.  A faculty member, Dr. Joan Francioni, has been selected to serve as a part-time CERTS Director during the first year of implementation.
