WSU's Center for Mississippi River Studies is an interdisciplinary collaborative that recognizes the Mississippi River as a remarkable resource for research, outreach and education.

A focal point of their efforts involves the River Explorer, a 64-foot vessel that functions as "a floating classroom."  The houseboat has a capacity of 30 people, a full galley, comfortable inside space and an upper sundeck. It can easily nose into island sand bars for explorations on land.

In addition to being used as a classroom, the River Explorer can be used for other WSU-sponsored events such as hosting conference groups or departmental meetings.  Costs for WSU class use are $60 per hour of running time and $15 per hour for standing time; for non-instructional use, $90 and $22.50 respectively.  All trips depend upon river conditions and crew availability.  For bookings, contact Kate Parsi at 507-457-5565 or kparsi@winona.edu.
