Student Success - Tutoring Initiative
library

The goal of the tutoring initiative is to help WSU students meet their academic goals by providing superior academic assistance including tutoring and Supplemental Instruction.  Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a highly effective academic assistance program that utilizes regularly-scheduled, informal study sessions in which students learn how to integrate course content and study skills while working together under the guidance of a student who has already excelled in the course.  SI has supported the following courses:
   Minnesota Rocks & Waters
   Resources of the Earth
   General Psychology
   Statistics
   Calculus I
   Anatomy & Physiology
   Microbiology
   Chemistry for Health Sciences
   Dynamic Earth
   Natural Disasters

Since the awarding of additional funds through the L21 initiative, student contact hours have increased 660%.  On average, students attending SI earned grades at least 6% and up to 19% higher than non-attendees.
