The Leadership Academy supports cross-institutional and cross-functional cohort leadership teams in an active program of collaborative leadership learning that is built upon issues that are of critical importance to the future of WSU. Participants engage in discussions about leadership, change, collaboration, creative problem-solving, decision- making and project management. Each team defines a problem, identifies barriers, brainstorms solutions and develops and implements corrective recommendations.
Spring 2005 participants addressed processes and policies affecting transfer students and are currently working on their long-range objectives. Fall 2006 participants studied issues associated with advising students in different states of transition such as students on academic probation/suspension, international students, students changing majors, non-traditional students and transfer students. They are currently researching best practices and models of advising and will present their recommendations this summer. A third academy will begin work in Fall 2007.
