Prairie Island Student Summer Bridge Program |
|---|
![]() |
The Prairie Island Student Summer Bridge Program was designed to encourage underrepresented students, specifically Native American high school students, to consider pursuing a college career. In Phase One of the project, an ASF member and faculty member designed a "life skills" curriculum and worked with Red WIng High School to enroll 19 students in the program. In Phase Two, a series of sessions were offered in Red Wing, by the faculty member, ASF member and WSU student mentors. In Phase Three, students attended sessions at the WSU campus. This allowed the students to experience college life as it is during summer break. An additional campus visit is 0planned for next fall so the students can see the campus "in action." The two senior high school students do plan to attend college and 13 students filled out a WSU "contact card" and personal contact will be maintained to assess the project's ultimate success.
