SIA-International Students Retention Model

This SIA study involved a statistical analysis of the retention rates of International students. Data indicated that international undergraduate students at WSU had a persistence rate from first year to second year of 76.3%, a rate 4.7% higher than the WSU overall retention rate.

Only two variables had a significant correlation to persistence -- spring semester GPA and spring credit hours. (The other variables examined were TOEFL score, freshman or transfer student, country of origin/citizenship/ financial sponsorship, gender, first semester GPA, cululativ3e GPA first semester credit hours, total number of credit hours attempted during the first year, on campus employment, on campus housing nd appointments with international student offices.
