Undergraduate Nursing Curriculum Revision Facilitation

WIth this SIA award, two Administrative and Service Faculty members facilitated Nursing Department's undergraduate curriculum revision using a Collaborative Learning Model.

The facilitators worked with the department's undergraduate curriculum subcommittee to create a scope statement, establish a portal with training materials and identified four sub-workgroups. One group mapped the curriculum; one researched best practices; one reviewed external guidelines (accreditation criteria, regulations and practice standards); and one collected and analyzed existing WSU data.

The project included a week-long retreat and a two-day retreat to develop components of the new curriculum, which is scheduled for implementation in spring 2008. Feedback indicated that the COllaborative Learning Model was a good structure for curriculum revision and participants believed it could be applied to solve other issues in the department.

The project report is available here.
