Writer's Proficiency Exam Workshops

	In this project, workshops were designed to provide 1-1 feedback, instruction and tutorial support for students planning on re-taking the Education Department's hand-written Writer's Proficiency Exam, which is required for admission to the program. Students who failed the exam on their first attempt were the target audience. A total of 25 students participated in the pilot offering of the workshops. Of those, 20 passed the exam on their second attempt. It appears that the more sessions students attended, the better their chances were for success. The project director believes it would be beneficial to continue the program and offer service not only to students who failed the exam on their first attempt, but to students planning on taking it for the first time. The Department of Education may explore options for continuing the program.
