Travel Study Programs
The travel study program at Winona State includes courses that our faculty teach at different sites (nationally and abroad) in order to take advantage of unique learning opportunities. The office of Outreach and Continuing Education (OCED) has helped to organize 11 travel study programs both here and abroad. There are 190 students registered for travel study.
Current or recent travel studies: Photos
- service learning (New Orleans, St. Croix, and Jamaica);
- scientific research (Himalayas);
- tourism and business research (Costa Rica);
- cultural awareness (Egypt, Mexico, Rome and the Northern Great Plains);
- engineering education (Chicago);
- outdoor challenges (Australia and New Zealand).
Each of the programs begins with an academic foundation and usually fulfills a university studies requirement. The educational experience is then strengthened by the exposure to the different locales. A significant portion of L21 funding for travel study has also been used to provide employment to students.
OCED continues to promote the expansion of travel study program offerings by providing the organizational and logistical support necessary.
