Questions and Answers Which classes are cancelled? All classes that meet before 3:30 p.m. except labs and classes that only meet once a week. Please check with your instructors! Which classes are NOT cancelled? Classes that meet once a week, regardless of when they start. What Happens on Assessment Day? All students with between 45 and 70 EARNED credits should participate in the general education exam. Selected Seniors will participate in the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency. Juniors and Seniors will participate in assessment activities decided upon by their major departments. How will I know where I'm supposed to go? Signs will be posted all over campus to help you figure out where you'll need to be. Academic Departments will announce where they will be meeting with their students. Ask one of your professors! Why are we doing this? Assessment Day is a way for us to identify what we're doing well, and figure out what we need to work on to improve. It is a chance for Winona State to find out what you are thinking and feeling about WSU and also how you are doing in general education and your major. Some activities will allow us compare WSU students to students across the country. Activities in your major will allow your home department a chance to assess how well they're doing in helping you understand the core concepts and develop the essential skills of your field. Assessment Day is just one more thing that Winona State is doing to build a Culture of Assessment on campus --where we continually look to see how we're doing and on what we need to improve. We'll let you know what we find out -- and what we're going to do to try to improve! |
