Q: Where is WSU located?

A:

Winona State is located in the heart of Winona, a city in southeast Minnesota with 29,000 people. The mighty Mississippi River, towering bluffs, beautiful lakes, and a historic downtown are all within a few blocks of campus. Winona is a 25-minute drive from La Crosse, Wis., 45 minutes from Rochester, and about 2 hours south of the Twin Cities.

Q: How do I arrange a campus visit?

A:

We encourage you and your family to experience WSU! We provide talks and tours Monday-Friday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and selected Saturdays at 10 a.m. Plan to spend about 3 hours with us. You may also visit during open house, showcase, and academic preview days. RSVP online or call to reserve your space at 507.457.5100. We will confirm and send directions and parking information.

Q: When should I apply?

A:

High school students should apply as soon as possible after September 1 of their senior year, as soon as they can provide an ACT score. WSU has been enrolling at capacity in recent years.

Transfer students can apply for fall, spring, or summer terms on the web or using a paper application 45 days prior to the beginning of the term. Separate, earlier deadlines exist for nursing and education transfer students.

Q: What do I submit to apply?

A:

Completed application form, online or paper version
$20 application fee or fee waiver request from your guidance office
Official high school transcript sent directly from the school
Official ACT composite score, sent directly from ACT
Transfer students should submit all college transcripts (if you have completed less than 24 hours of college work, also submit your high school transcripts)

Q: How do I apply if I am a veteran?

A: First-time applicants requesting admission must fill out an application form. At the top of the form write “Military Personnel” (there is no spot to mark for a veteran on the online version; find a spot near the top to type it). The admission fee will be waived for veterans. After being admitted and registering for classes, ask our Admissions office about veterans’ benefits and how to apply for them.
