Additional Life Insurance & Resources

The following additional life insurance plans may be purchased through SEGIP on an optional basis.

Employee Basic Life

The state pays the full cost of basic group term life insurance for benefits eligible employees who are eligible for at least a partial employer contribution for health/dental coverage. The amount of this insurance is determined by the collective bargaining agreement or plan that covers your job, and is based on the amount of your annual salary. To see how much Basic Life Insurance you have, go to the Employee Self site. Sign in. In the right column, click on "Benefits" then "Benefits Summary". The next page will show your Basic Life Coverage.

Manager's Life

If you are a manager, the State offers an employer paid life insurance benefit equal to 11/2 or 2 times your annual salary. See your collective bargaining agreement or plan to determine the amount of your state-paid life insurance and your eligibility for employer-paid coverage. Click here for more information.
