New Orleans
Are you interested in taking a different kind of class ? Hurricane Katrina has raised important questions about race, racism, socioeconomic class, and poverty in the United States. In addition, this catastrophe has raised complex questions about security, environmental impact and governmental funding priorities. Students explore these and other questions as they relate directly to the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. As part of the course, students will travel to New Orleans to participate in a hurricane relief work project over WSU's spring break. RESC150 offers students a chance to learn about New Orleans and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina AND travel to New Orleans over WSU’s spring break to work with community organizations and families who are recovering from the disaster. RESC150 is a 3-credit University Studies course and satisfies the Contemporary Citizenship requirement. ![]() ![]()
