Winona Area Youth Leadership Program
What is the Winona Area Youth Leadership Program?
The Winona Area Youth Leadership Program is a year-long leadership development program sponsored by area community partners.
A diverse group of approximately 25 high school juniors from six area high schools are selected. The group meets monthly at a variety of locations to explore a broad range of topics; from personal leadership and career selection to volunteering and government. Participating schools include: Cotter High, Lewiston, Houston, Hope Lutheran, Winona High and Winona Alternative Learning Center.
When does the program meet?
The group meets the second Tuesday of each month for six sessions. Times of each session may vary depending on the topic and location.
Who should apply for the program?
The program is for area high school students who will be juniors during the 2009-10 school year and who are active in their school and/or community but not necessarily in traditional leadership roles. The purpose of the program is to help students with leadership potential increase their skills so that they can apply them during their senior year.

What is expected?
Each student selected will be expected to determine if they will have the time to commit to the program. An important trait of being a leader is personal commitment.
If a student is selected for the Youth Leadership Program, they will be expected to be on time and attend all sessions throughout the program.
