General Enforcement
Parking Violations
To ensure the safety and welfare of all students, administration, faculty, staff and visitors, violations of the parking rules and regulations will result in the issuance of parking citations, towing or immobilization of vehicle. The fines for parking violations are as follows:
- $10 General parking violation
- $15 Parking in a fire lane or too close to a fire hydrant
- $15 Parking in a hall director's space
- $30 Parking in lot posted for snow removal
- $75 Use of a stolen/fraudulent/lost/altered/revoked parking permit
- $30 Immobilization of vehicle by University personnel in addition to $37.50 Towing charge and storage fees paid by vehicle operator directly to vendor. (Subject to change dependent upon vendor competitive contract bids.)
- $100 Parking illegally in a handicap space
Instructions for payment are indicated on the citation.
Towing of Vehicles
Vehicles will be towed from campus in accordance with a Minnesota Statute. The information contained in this Statute is available from Parking Services.
The following are some of the most common violations for which a vehicle may be towed.
- Parking in a designated tow-away zone
- Blocking another parked vehicle
- Three or more unpaid citations
- Vehicle without proper registration
- Vehicle parked in lot posted for snow removal
As indicated, these are only the most common violations for which a vehicle may be towed.
General Enforcement Coverage by Permit Type
- Gold lots, 7 am to 5 pm Mon thru Fri No parking 2 am to 6 am (except Gold lots 6 & 7 enforced until 6 pm)
- Purple lot, 7 am to 5 pm Mon thru Fri No parking 2 am to 6 am
- Silver lots, 24 hours-Mon thru Thurs, 7 am - 5 pm on Fri
- Motorcycle spaces, 7 am to 5 pm Mon thru Fri
- Handicap spaces, 24/7
- Parking Meters, 7 am to 5 pm Mon thru Fri
- Orange lot (Lourdes), 24/7
- Green lot (Maria), 24/7
- Tan lot (Tau), 24/7
- Overflow lots, 7 am to 5 pm Mon thru Fri
