Programs and Majors

Our over 80 academic majors and 10 pre-professional programs provide a broad knowledge base and emphasize the critical thinking and communication skills that you will need in your career. When you graduate, you will leave with access to a range of career opportunities and leading graduate and professional schools for advanced study.

Your education will be shaped not only by extraordinary and approachable faculty, but also by our distinctive approach to teaching and learning, the way we use technology, and the rich natural beauty of this magnificent region.

Although Winona has a total enrollment of more than 8,000 students, you won't be a number. Whether you live on campus in one of the residence halls, share an apartment off campus or commute from home, you will be welcomed for who you are and respected as a member of the campus community. We strongly encourage first-year students to live on campus. It is our way of ensuring that new students are introduced to all the exciting dimensions of university life:  lasting friendships with classmates; clubs, organizations, community service, and intramurals; spontaneous activities such as pizza parties and movies that enrich the undergraduate experience. Through purposeful activity, forged by character and competence, our students' education begins in the classroom, then reaches into every corner of campus life, fostering socially responsible young men and women who are fully engaged in a vibrant campus community.
