Transfer Requirements and Application

• Students who have completed at least 24 semester credits after high school graduation at a nationally accredited college or university with a 2.4 GPA or greater will generally be admitted. If your cumulative college GPA is between 2.2 and 2.39, a transfer specialist will conduct a personal interview and review your application.

• Students with fewer than 24 semester credits completed must also submit a final high school transcript and ACT score (WSU school code:  2162).  If you have an 18 ACT or higher and were in the top half of your graduating class; or, if you were in the top two-thirds of your class with a 21 or higher ACT, you will generally be admitted as long as your transfer GPA is 2.4 or higher.

Application Steps
Send a completed transfer application (online or paper) and a $20 application fee.  If you have paid WSU an application fee previously, you need not pay again. Transfer application deadline for summer is 30 days prior to beginning of summer sessions.  Deadlines for  fall or spring semesters are 45 days prior to the beginning of the term.  Check the academic calendar for term dates.

Request an OFFICIAL transcript from each non-MNSCU previous institution to be sent to the WSU admissions office. Your file will be reviewed when all transcripts arrive.  If you have attended a MNSCU (Minnesota State College or University) institution, WSU will retrieve your transcript when your completed application is received.

A final high school transcript is required if fewer than 24 college level credits have been completed at other colleges or universities, or if a student has attended a technical college only.

When all application materials are received, you can expect to have a decision within 10-15 working days.

If you wish to appeal denial of admission, submit a packet to WSU including a personal statement explaining factors that affected school performance; and two letters of recommendation from college or university faculty members attesting to the student's ability to succeed at WSU.  Any other evidence to support the appeal may also be included.  The admissions appeals committee will review cases as they become complete and submit a recommendation to the Director of Admissions. The appeals process can take about four weeks.
