Winona State Admitted Transfer Student Checklist
- Thoroughly read through the acceptance &/or registration letter and information sent in the mail.
- Carefully review the Degree Audit Report (DARS) included in the acceptance letter envelope – contact the admissions office and talk to a transfer counselor if there are questions (800-342-5978 ext 5100)
- If Nursing or Education is the major area of interest, contact those departments for information about courses, requirements & deadlines for application to the program.
- Fill out financial aid application – Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on-line at www.fafsa.gov (Winona State code #002394).
- If applicable, fill out the housing application – sent by mail a few weeks after acceptance. Or start to think about off-campus living.
- Registration materials will be sent in the mail when the time to register nears – thoroughly read through the registration information.
- Attend a transfer advising session – attend a short orientation, understand your DARS and meet with a faculty advisor for advising & registration.
- If unable to attend a transfer advising session, contact the academic department to make an appointment with a faculty advisor for help with advising and registration. This will help keep you on track.
Once registered for classes:
- Pick up laptop on your scheduled day & time.
- Get your picture I.D. taken (Somen 207)
- Double check with financial aid to make sure everything is in order.
- Buy your books – either on-line or in the bookstore. Students may also use the textbook reservation option.
