Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find out who my advisor is?

You will find the name of your advisor on your course schedule and your DARS report both accessible from web registration.  If you have declared a major, your advisor should be a faculty member in your major department.  If you are a first year student who has not declared a major, your advisor will be your orientation instructor.

When should I meet with my advisor ?

You must meet with your advisor during the advising period for each new term. For Fall Semester 2008, the advising period is scheduled for April 2-18, 2008. Bring a tentative schedule and a copy of your Degree Audit Report and Academic Record to your advising meeting. You can print these reports from the web registration system. During your advising meeting, your advisor will give you your six-digit access code that you will need to register for classes.  You should also meet with your advisor whenever you have questions or concerns -- your advisor can help you or can refer you to someone who can!

When can I register ?

Registration for Fall Semester begins on April 14, 2008.  You can register any time after your registration window opens.  The order in which students are allowed to register is based on the number of credits earned -- the more credits you have earned the earlier you will be allowed to register.

What if my classes are closed ?

It is likely that classes will be closed when you try to register.  Discuss this with your advisor and be prepared for this possibility by selecting several different classes that you could take to meet either univeristy studies or major or minor requirements.  To find open classes, use the "Open Sections Inquiry" menu item in the web registration system.  You can search for classes by course number, by department, or by general education area.  Complete instructions for using the Open Sections Inquiry function are found in the web registration instructions available in the Registrars' Office.

When does registration end?

You can add or drop Fall Semester 2008 classes using web registration any time after your window has opened until August 29, 2008.
