1995 NCA Assessment Plan
Executive Summary
Winona State University's assessment plan has been steadily evolving since 1988. The faculty-driven student-centered assessment plan involves both university level assessment and department / program level assessment.

To date we have:

• Created a new Mission Statement

• Developed a comprehensive Long Range Plan for the university

• Agreed on the Principles and Guidelines that would guide the assessment process.

• Identified a university quality indicator database

• Developed the Quality Process Model (integrating the Mission, Long Range Plan and quality indicator base).

• Began data collection on university quality indicators.

• Began department-level assessment with funding for 33 academic and non academic departments, programs and units to work on developing mission statements, goals, objectives and indicators.

The next phase of the assessment planning process will involve:

• Analysis and refinement of university level indicators

• Identification of critical process indicators

• Modification of Quality Process Model based upon critical indicator analysis

• Continuing to develop department level assessment plans

• Supporting department level data collection

• Analysis and revision of department level indicators

• Identifying an official coordinator of assessment activities and a systematic plan for coordinating university assessment efforts.

• Establishing university-wide guidelines which will assist departments in aligning department level indicators to university mission, goals, and Quality Process Model.
