Diversity Task Force

Context and Rationale

From the 2012 Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Assurance Report it was noted: “To live up to the mission, ‘Winona State University is a community of learners improving our world,’ the institution must focus continued attention, and truly commit to diversifying the campus. The team observed that the campus community was aware of the lack of diversity but was not engaged in a formal way to develop innovative ways to attract more diverse employees and a more diverse student body.”

Therefore, the WSU community needs to begin planning on how to build a truly inclusive community and environment.

Task Force Charge: To design, coordinate, and facilitate a Summit for University Improvement Day (October 16, 2012) that focuses on engaging the University community in conversations and deliberations regarding a more diverse and culturally competent university community. In Fall 2013, this task force was extended to continue meeting through the 2013-2014 school year to consider and recommend next steps.
