Kent Nerburn Barrie Jean Borich

"Throughout thirteen years of teaching, I’ve worked with students across genres, and specialize in both lyric and narrative creative nonfiction.

"In my own writing, I try to accomplish something akin to documentary photography. I want to capture actual life, in its moments—both the glimmers and the infernos. My purpose is to cry out, 'Look, we are here, too. Don’t walk by without noticing.'"

Barrie Jean Borich is the author of My Lesbian Husband, winner of the American Library Association GLBT nonfiction book award; and Restoring the Color of Roses (Firebrand), a memoir. She is currently completing work on her third book. Best American Essays listed her Gettysburg Review piece What Kind of King, as a "Notable Essay of 1999" and Mpls/St. Paul magazine included her among "Top 10 Local Authors." Her essays have appeared recently in Speakeasy magazine and her awards include a Bush Artist Fellowship. She teaches privately and in the MFA program at Hamline University's Graduate School of Liberal Studies.
