Winona, Minn. (March 20, 2008) – The Winona State University women's soccer program has added 10 new student-athletes to its roster for 2008, Warriors head coach Ali Omar announced.
The incoming class includes defender Brooke Baker (Topeka, Kan.); goalkeeper Anna Belpedio (Coon Rapids, Minn.); midfielder Brynn Caslavka (Maple Plain, Minn.); midfielder Brandy Coulter (Burnsville, Minn.); forward Sarah Colleran (Caledonia, Minn.); midfielder Brittany Hayes (La Crescent, Minn.); defender Jena McDermott (Cedar Rapids, Iowa); forward Amy Sandhurst (Sioux Falls, S.D.); forward Melissa Sellier (Neenah, Wis.); and midfielder Jordyn Strege (Mahtomedi, Minn.).
All will have freshman eligibility when the Warriors begin the 2008 season at Maxwell Field at Alltel Stadium in Winona on August 28 against Regis University.
"We’re expecting very good things from this class. This is an extremely talented group of young women who can have an immediate impact on our program,” said Omar.
"All of them have tremendous experience with their high school and club teams, as well as Olympic Development Team experience."
“Because we are graduating seven players, including three all-conference midfielders, two All-American forwards, and two starting defenders, we centered our recruiting efforts on signing versatile players,” said Omar.
