Warriors Tripped In Overtime

WINONA, MN -- For the second match in a row Winona State University went into overtime, but this time the Warriors fell by a 2-1 count to Metropolitan State College of Denver in nonconference play on Maxwell Field at Alltel Stadium.
The Warriors had opened their season with a 2-1 overtime win, but this time WSU lost the momentum in the extra period and allowed Metro State to score 6:55 into extra play.
The first half ended in a 0-0 tie before MSCD put a shot past the Warriors' goalkeeper Amanda Diehm 6:01 into the second period.
The MSCD goaltending also slipped up in the second period, as Winona State's Cori Beard put a shot to the Roadrunners' goalkeeper's hands for a tying goal at 54:03.
For the match, both teams had 12 shots.
