Warriors Drop Doubleheader

FT. MYERS, FL -- Winona State University was outduled by Saginaw Valley State University, MI and dropped a doubleheader by scores of 3-2 and 2-1 to end a nine-game southern trip.
Both the Warriors and Cardinals came up with six and four hits each in the respective games, but it was the Cardinals who scored last in each game for the wins.
In the first game John Magee had two hits and Ben Smothers and Ronnie Olson each drove in a run.
Bryan Ruff took the loss for the Warriors with five strukeouts.
In Game Two Ross Hellenbrand gave up a run in the last of the sixth that proved to be the difference. Hellenbrand also had five strikeouts, but also issued five walks.
The lone WSU run came in the first when Olson walked, Mike Wendland walked and Andrew Kes slugged a run-scoring single.
