Warriors Fall Twice To Wayne State, NE

WINONA, MN -- Winona State University dropped a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader to Wayne State College, NE by scores of 7-6 and 10-4 at Loughrey Field.
Wayne State came up with a winning run in the top of the seventh to notch the victory in the opener and in the second contest scored three times in the second and added four more runs in the third to build a 7-0 lead before closing out the win.
In the first game WSU led 3-1 after two innings and 5-3 after five innings, but gave up three runs in the top of the sixth to trail by a run before tieing the contest with a run in the last of the sixth.
Brent Maxwell led the Warriors with three hits in four official trips to the plate to go along with a run scored and a run driven in.
In the nightcap Mike Wendland provided most of the firepower for the Warriors, blasting a three-run home run in WSU's four-run fifth inning.
