WSU Splits With U Of Mary

BISMARCK, ND -- For the second day in a row Winona State University recorded a split of a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader with the University of Mary. WSU won the opener 3-1 and then fell by a 5-2 count in the nightcap.
The Warriors took a 3-0 lead when Mike Wendland came up with a run-scoring single in the third inning and a sacrifice flyball in the fifth. In between John Magee stroked a solo home run in the fourth.
Bryan Ruff went the distance for the Warriors, allowing a lone run on three hits and three walks. Ruff finished with five strikeouts.
In the second game, UM scored three runs in the sixth frame to break a 2-2 tie.
WSU tied the game at two-all with a pair of runs in the third inning. A pair of Marauder errors led to the runs.
Wendland had a pair of hits for the Warriors.
