Warriors Sweep Minnesota, Crookston

WINONA, MN -- Winona State University broke out the bats for 32 runs on 29 hits and swept a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader from the Univeristy of Minnesota, Crookston 17-1 and 15-2 at Loughrey Field.

In the first game John Magee banged out four hits and drove in three runs, while Ross Hellenbrand hit a three-run home run as one of his two hits and finished the game with four runs batted in and three runs scored. Also for the Warriors, Mike Wendland had two hits, three RBI and two runs scored, while Jared Anderson drove in three runs with two hits and scored twice. Brent Maxwell also contributed two hits.

Three Warrior pitchers gave up just four hits and struck out ten, as starter Bryan Ruff notched the win.

In Game Two, Kyle Collins had three hits with two runs batted in, while Joe Kley banged out a pinch-hit solo home run.

This time the Warriors used four pitchers and allowed only four hits. Don Erdall tossed the first three innings and struck out six in recording the win.
