WSU Tops UM-Crookston Twice

WINONA, MN -- Winona State University wrapped up a four-game sweep of the University of Minnesota, Crookston by taking two games of a doublheader 14-4 and 19-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play at Loughrey Field.

In the first game Joe Kley went 4-for-4 with three doubles and five runs batted in, while Ronnie Olson, Andrew Kes and Kirby Hovden each contribued two hits. Kes finished with three RBI.

Three WSU hurlers scattered eight hits with starter Justin Kunfermann recording six strikeouts.

In Game Two, Kes slugged a couple of home runs and came up with three hits and five runs batted in in his three atbats. Sam Henriksen also had three hits and drove in three runs, while Ross Hellenbrand came up with a couple of hits.

Four Warrior pitchers gave up just six hits in posting the shutout with Andrew DeSousa getting the win.

For the day, the Warriors scored 33 runs on 31 hits, including 11 doubles and two home runs.
