WSU Wins Wild Double Overtime Contest

MARSHALL, MN -- Senior, running back, Alex Wiese scored five touchdowns, two coming in overtime play, to lead Winona State University to a wild 49-46 win over Southwest Minnesota State University in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
The win gave the Warriors a share of this season's NSIC championship and extended their winning streak to eight games, while leaving them 8-0 in NSIC play.
Wiese rushed for four touchdowns and also hauled in a receiving score along with a two-point conversion to finish the game with 32 points. Two of those running touchdowns came in overtime action. The first gave WSU the lead in the opening extra period, while the second handed the Warriors the victory.
On the day Wiese rushed 38 times for 210 yards and caught four passes for 59 yards to finish with 269 all-purpose yards. He also finished the day by passing the 1,000-yard mark for the season and now has 1,109 yards on the ground.
Scott Peters added another outstanding day for the Warriors with seven receptions for 114 yards and reached the 1,000-yard mark for the season with 1,096 yards.
Warrior quarterback Drew Aber completed 20 passes on 37 attempts for 271 yards and two scores. Aber totaled 305 yards in total offense and now has a career total offense mark of 6,139 yards.
Winona State came up with two interceptions, one fumble recovery, nine tackles for loss and five sacks, while Shawn Cunningham led the individual totals with 15 solo tackles, three tackles for losses of 10 yards, two sacks, one interception and one pass breakup.
