Turnovers, Kicking Spell WSU Victory

WINONA, MN -- Winona State University capitalized on its defense with six turnovers and added the kicking of, freshman, Cullen Fahey in scoring a 37-10 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win over Concordia University, St. Paul on Maxwell Field at Alltel Stadium.
The Warriors picked off three CSP passes, recovered three fumbles and turned three of those six turnovers into touchdowns and 21 points. Fahey, on the additional hand, recorded 13 kicking points (four extra points and three field goals) and also recorded the longest field goal in WSU history when he booted a 47-yard three pointer in the fourth quarter. The 13 points is the second most points scored by a kicker in a single WSU game.
Senior, runningback, Andrew Verbancouer continues to be a scoring machine, as he scored his sixth and seventh touchdowns in the Warriors' first four games of the season.
The Warriors managed a pretty balanced offensive attack with 229 yards rushing and 178 passing. Randy Spring finished with 103 yards on 16 carries, while Verbancouer totaled 96 yards on 10 attempts.
Greg Preston led the passing with 116 yards on eight of 16 attempts and TD passes to Justin Thomas, his first collegiate score, and Tyrre Burks.
Defensively the Warriors gave up 269 yards passing, but held the Golden Bears to 22 yards rushing by recording three sacks and seven tackles for minus yardage.
Freshman, cornerback, Lucas Wolf led the Warriors with eight total tackles on seven unassisted and one assisted tackles. He also came up with a forced fumble and an interception that he returned for 28 yards.
Tony Hill came up with an interception, while Brent Yule picked off the other errant CSP pass.
