Warriors Kick Off Season With Win

WINONA, MN -- Winona State University, behind the pair of individual wins by Alexandra Nugent, opened its season with a 178.625-172.700 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over the University of Wisconsin-Stoutat McCown Gymnasium.

Nugent won both the vaulting and all-around competitions, as she came up with a 9.475 on the vault and 36.475 in the all-around. Nugent also got a pair of second-place finishes on the uneven parallel bars (8.750) and floor exercise (9.400).

Freshmen Amanda Cotter and Melissa Baudhuin had solid career-opening meets. Cotter won the bars with an 8.900 and added a third on the balance beam with a 9.350. Baudhuin added to the Warrior efforts with a second on the beam with a 9.475 and a third on the vault with a 9.425.
