Warriors Top Pick In League Preseason Poll

ST. PAUL, MN -- Winona State University has been selected the No. 1 choice to win the 2007-2008 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship according to the league's coaches poll.

The Warriors received nine first-place votes for a total of 90 points, nine points ahead of Northern State University. Southwest Minnesota State University was third with 69 points and Minnesota State University Moorhead came in fourth with 66 points.

It marked the fourth time in the past five years the Warriors were the top selection in the preseason coaches poll.

The Warriors also received an individual preseason honor, as, senior, center, John Smith was selected Preseason Player of th Year for a second straight season. Senior, guard, Jonte Flowers also was named a player to watch in the NSIC.
