Flowers Sparks Roll Past Northern State

Jonte Flowers ABERDEEN, SD -- Jonte Flowers scored a career-high 34 points and Winona State University scored in bunches in rolling to an 87-60 win over Northern State University in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play at the Wachs Arena.

Flowers sparked the Warriors in the first half with 21 points and then added 13 points for the career best in the final 20 minutes of play.

The game was tied at four when WSU went on its first run of consequence, outscoring the Wolves 19-6 for a 23-10 lead with 13:11 in the opening period. The first half would then end with WSU leading 40-29.

In the second half the Warriors had built their lead to 49-37 when an 8-0 run gave them a 20-point, 57-37, lead with 15:20 left. From there the Warriors came up with another run, this of 18-7 for their biggest lead of the night at 75-44 with 6:56 left to play.

John Smith was the only other double-figure scorer for the Warriors with 16 points.

WSU forced the Wolves into 20 turnovers, 8 coming on steals by Flowers.
