Warriors Knock Down The Lewis Flyers

WINONA, MN -- No. 5-ranked Winona State University held Lewis University scoreless the first :9 of the second half and went on to post an 84-76 nonconference win in McCown Gymnasium.
The Warriors battled to a 41-38 lead by the halftime break and then opened the second half by scoring eight unanswered points, which covered the first 4:39 of the period and became the biggest lead of the night for WSU.
Lewis did come back to within three at 57-54 with 10:17 left in the half, but the Warriors fashioned an 8-2 run for a 65-56 lead which eventually was too big of a cushion for the Flyers to overcome.In the first half he Flyers recorded their biggest lead at 35-33 with 3:25 left in the half, but the Warriors outscored them 8-3 for a 41-38 halftime lead.
John Smith paced the Warriors with a double-double. Smith was one of five WSU players to score in double figures with 17 points and added 10 rebounds, as WSU held a 43-37 edge on the board. David Johnson also scored 17 points for the Warriors, while Curtrel Robins posted 14, Quincy Henderson finished with 13 and Josh Korth came off the bench to tally 12 points.
