Warriors Crack Century Mark In Beating VHawks

WINONA, MN -- Travis Whipple hit six of seven three-point field goal attempts in scoring a career-high 20 points and leading No. 5-ranked Winona State University to a 100-81 nonconference win over Viterbo University in McCown Gymnasium.
Whipple added two of four free throw attempts in leading a quartet of starters who scored in double figures.
Senior, center, John Smith turned in a solid 21 minutes of play by scoring 16 points, grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out six assists to go with his two blocked shots and two steals.
Quincy Henderson and Curtrel Robinson rounded out the WSU double-figure scoring with 11 and 10 points respectively.
The only lead for Viterbo came in the first 38 seconds of the game, while WSU's biggest lead of the night was 31 points with 7:41 left in the game.
WSU held a 55-36 halftime lead and each team then scored 45 points in the final 20 minutes of play.
The Warriors forced the VHawks into 20 turnovers.
