Warriors Streak Past Mavericks

Curtrel Robinson WINONA, MN -- No. 5-ranked Winona State University put up 54 points in the second half and streaked past Minnesota State University Mankato 92-75 in nonconference play at McCown Gymnasium.

The two teams battled in the first half with the lead changing hands eight times and the scored being tied twice. But in the second 20 minutes of play the the Warriors turned up its defense and was sparked by the play of Jonte Flowers' 11 points to go on and record the win.

WSU did lead 38-35 at the half after John Smith hit a jumper just before the halftime horn.

The Warriors finished with five players in double figures. Flowers, who has been battling a knee injury, came in the second half with just over 15 and a half minutes to play and finished with his 11 points to go along with a rebound, two assists and four steals. Qunicy Henderson led a quarter of starters in double figures with 17. Smith finished with 15 and Travis Whipple and Curtrel Robinson each netted 12 points.

Smith capped off his game with a double-double by adding 13 points. He also had six assists and five blocked shots.
