Warriors Run Past Mustangs

MARSHALL, MN -- A second-half run by No. 3-ranked Winona State University led to a 72-54 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in over Southwest Minnesota State University.
The win improves the Warriors season wining streak to 19 games and upped their NSIC record winning steak to 44 games. WSU is also 93-7 over the last 100 games.
The Warriors led 29-24 at halftime, but the Mustangs cam out gunning to start the second half and scored the first seven points of the period for a 31-29 lead. But from there the Warriors exploded for a 13-2 run to take a 42-33 lead and then pushed the run to 20-4 to never look back again.
John Smith had a huge night, scoring 24 points and now is only three points away from breaking the WSU single-season scoring record. Smith added six rebounds, four blocked shots, one assist and one steal.
Jonte Flowers and David Johnson contributed to the win with 12 points each, while Flowers finished with four rebounds, four assists, four seals and two blocked shots.
