Flowers Scores 40 In WSU Victory

Jonte Flowers WINONA, MN -- Jonte Flowers scored 40 points and helped lead No 3-ranked Winona State University to an 85-63 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win over Minnesota State University Moorhead at McCown Gymnasium.

Flowers went 15-of-21 from the field, connecting on one of four three-point field goal attempts, and netting 9-of-12 from the free throw line for his 40 points. He also added six rebounds, three assists and one steal.

The last Warrior to score 40 points in a game was Carter Glad with 47 points on February 18, 1989 against Moorhead State University.

The win keeps the WSU NSIC winning streak alive at 46 games and the regular-season winning streak at 21.

The victory also locks up another NSIC regular-season championship and a No. 1 seed in the upcoming NSIC Tournament.

The last regular-season game for the Warriors also featured 21 points and seven rebounds by John Smith, who added two assists and four blocked shots, while Quincy Henderson hit double figures with 10 points.

WSU forced MSUM into 14 turnovers and converted 22-of-27 from the charity stripe.
