ST. PAUL, MN -- Winona State University, senior, guard, Jonte Flowers came up with 40 points in the No. 3-ranked Warriors' win over Minnesota State University Moorhead to cap off a week where he earned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of he Week honors.
The 40-point effort came after Flowers had netted 18 points in the Warriors' win over Concordia University St. Paul.
In the win over MSUM, Flowers was 15-21 from the field (1-4 from three-point field goal range) and 9-12 from the free-throw line. Flowers added six rebounds, three assists and one steal to the effort.
In the game against CSP, Flowers was 5-11 from the field and 8-8 from the line while coming up with three rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots and six steals.
The last time a WSU player scored 40 or more points came in 1989.
Flowers is closing in on a NCAA Division II national record for career steals. He has 376 and the record is 383.
