Warriors Clinch Outright League Title

Ben Fischer BEMIDJI, MN -- The No. 3-ranked Winona State University Warriors held Bemidji State University to just 15 points in the first half and rolled to a 72-47 win to clinch the outright championship in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

The Warriors, who are the No. 1-ranked team on the North Central Region rankings, improve their NSIC winning streak to 47 games and their season winning streak to 21 games, while posting a 94-6 record over their last 100 games.

Winona State led 37-15 by the halftime intermission by holding the Beavers to just 6-of-28 from the fild, and then held a 35-32 edge in the final 20 minutes of play.

WSU finished with three of its five starters in double figures, as David Johnson came up with 12 points. John Smith followed with 11 and Jonte Flowers totaled 10. Ben Fischer came off the bench to score another 10 points for WSU.

Flowers had a team-high nine rebounds and added three assists, one blocked shot and two steals.

WSU held the edge on the board 45-41 and forced BSU into 24 turnovers.
