ST. PAUL, MN -- Winona State University's Jonte Flowers became the NCAA Division II all-time leader for steals and in the process was named Co-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week.
Flowers came up with ten steals in the No. 3-ranked Warriors' win over the University of Minnesota, Crookston and has 388 for the career. The effort also moved Flowers into the No. 3 spot for career steals for all NCAA divisions.
The Warriors with Flowers help won both of their NSIC games and closed out the regular season with an 18-0 record in the NSIC and 29-1 record overall. That improved the Warriors' NSIC winning streak to 48 games and season winning streak to 23 straight games.
Flowers finished with 36 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists against UMC and added 10 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 blocked shot and steals in WSU's win over Bemidji State University.
