Warriors Notch Tournament Win

Jonte Flowers WINONA, MN -- No. 3-ranked Winona State University kicked off its postseason by holding the University of Mary to 19 points in the first half and rolled to a 77-50 victory in the opening round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament at McCown Gymnasium.

With the victory the Warriors will host the semifinal and championship rounds to the NSIC Tournament March 7 and 8.

The Warriors held the Marauders to just a 7-of-29 effort from the field in the first half, including a 4-of-12 performance from the three-point field goal range and held a 35-19 lead by the halftime break.

In the second half WSU outscored UM 42-31, as the Warriors allowed only 18 field goals in 58 attempts.

On the WSU offensive side, WSU was 28-of-57 from the field, 10-of-23 from the 3-point range and 11-of-14 from the free throw line while outrebounding the Marauders 41-29.

Jonte Flower led the Warriors with 23 points and 9 rebounds and added 5 assists, and one blocked shot and steal each.

Also scoring in double figures for WSU was Quincy Henderson with 14, David Johnson with 13 and Curtrel Robinson came off the bench to net 11 point.
