Warriors Tabbed To Win League Title

WINONA, MN -- Winona State University is favored to win the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championship, according to the 2007 league coaches' poll.
The Warriors were given eight of the ten first-place votes and totaled 89 points, eight points better than the second-place choice University of Mary.
Mary was given one first-place vote and Northern State University received the other first-place vote to finish in third with 67 points.
The Warriors captured the regular season conference championship in 2006, but was beaten by Mary in overtime of the conference tournament championship. WSU finished 8-0-1 in the NSIC and was 14-5-2 overall.
The Warriors also received other preseason honors. Senior Forward Holly Sutton was tabbed the NSIC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while junior goal keeper Amanda Diehm was picked as one of the Players to Watch for the 2007 NSIC season.
