Warriors Win Season Opener

Amelia Kasten ST. CLOUD, MN -- Amelia Kasten came up with a goal and an assist in leading Winona State University to a 4-0 win over St. Cloud State University in the season opening match for both teams.

Kasten assisted with Holly Sutton on the first goal of the season for the Warriors, which came at 10:04 of the first half and was scored by Leslie Schumacher. Kasten then scored the Warriors' third goal of the contest, which was the first of the second half and came at 56:17. Sutton again recorded an assist, as did Annie Lauterer.

WSU made it a 2-0 contest when Meagan Kline scored an unassisted goal at 30:06 and Kallie Tellefsen wrapped up the WSU scoring with an assisted goal from Kenzie Schleicher at 84:56.

Amanda Diehm recorded the shutout for the Warriors by coming up with eight saves.

St. Cloud recorded 18 shots in the match and WSU put up 14.
