WSU Records Fourth Straight Shutout

Story by: Winona State Sports Information Office

Martha Curtiss vs Northern Michigan WINONA, MN -- Single goals in each half lifted Winona State University to a 2-0 nonconference win over Northern Michigan University and a fourth consecutive shutout.

The win was the fourth straight for the Warriors, all which were by shutouts.

The Warriors' Kayla Walters got what proved to be the only goal the Warriors needed when she scored at 39:59 of the first half. Rachel Mathews assisted on the play. An insurance goal was then added at 87:49 of the second half when Amelia Kasten hooked up with an assist from Holly Sutton.

Goal keeper Amanda Diehm got plenty of help from her defensive teammates, needing to be concerned with only one shot on goal.
