Warriors Win On Final Shot
Story by: Winona State Sports Information Office
WINONA, MN -- It was the old "never, say never" as Winona State University scored on the final shot of the game in a 1-0 double overtime win over Concordia University St. Paul in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on Maxwell Field at Alltel Stadium.
Leslie Schumacher took a shot from Heidi Woerle and readjusted the ball to just inside the back of the right corner with 3.5 seconds left in the second overtime to give the Warriors the nerve-wrecking win.
It was a tough match for the Warriors who managed 13 of their 31 shots on goal. The WSU defense was up to the task also, holding the Golden Bears to seven shot, with only four on goal.
Amanda Diehm came up with all four saves for the Warriors.
