Warriors Tumble In Regional Shootout

WINONA, MN – No. 6-Seed University of Nebraska-Omaha (13-5-1) came up with a 5-4 win in shootout action of Central Region Tournament second round play and eliminated No. 2 Seed Winona State University (16-3-2).
UNO’s Danielle McCawley came up with the winning shot in the second round of shootout action. Winona State’s Bryna Peplinski missed on WSU’s attempt and then McCawley pushed the ball to the left side of Warrior goal keeper Amanda Diehm for the win.
The match was played to a 0-0 tie through regulaton and two overtime periods and remained tied at four shots all at the end of the first round of shootout play.
Winona State had only six shot during the first 110 minutes of play and only one was on goal, while the UNO Mavericks came up with 17 shots, six on goal.
UNO now advances on to the third round of regional competition on November 16.
