Women's Soccer announces Division l transfer

Winona, MINN.: Winona State University women’s soccer coach Ali Omar announced on Friday that Kendall Straessle (stir-a-sa-lee) from Division l University of Tenneessee-Martin will transfer to Winona State and continue her academic and soccer career at WSU. Kendall is majoring in exercise science.
Straessle, a native of Lake Zurich, ILL., will have two seasons of eligibility remaining at Winona State. While at Tennessee-Martin, Kendall started 33 games of the 37 she played for the Skyhawks scoring seven goals with three assists.
“Kendall was one of our top recruits in 2006, we are very familiar with her game and we look forward to adding her Division I experience to the mix”, added Omar.
WPSL: Straessle spent the 2007 summer season with the two time defending champions of the Illinois Women's Soccer League Major Division FCtwente3, of the Women's Professional Soccer League. Under the direction of head coach Richard Drake, who has guided four different teams to appearances in the NCAA Championships, Straessle helped guide the FCtwente3 to a 13-8-2 overall record and titles at the Illinois State Cup, Wisconsin Premier League Cup and a Tournament of Champions. She netted two goals during the FCtwente3's 23-match schedule.
AS A PREP: Straessle prepped at Lake Zurich High School where she was a two sport athlete, playing both soccer and volleyball. On the soccer field, Straessle helped lead the Bears to be one of the top teams in Illinois. She helped guide her team to a second place finish at the Illinois state tournament in 2003 and a third place finish in 2004. In 2005, Straessle guided her team to a berth in the sectional finals while also being named to the all-conference team. In 2006, she was also named to the all-area team. Straessle also played for the FC Barrington club team that eventually became the FCX.
