WSU Continues Roll Over Augustana, SD

WINONA, MN -- No. 3-ranked Winona State University continued its explosive offensive exploits with a 5-0 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win over Augustana College, SD on Maxwell Field at Alltel Stadium.
It was a second consecutive match were the Warrior offense erupted for goals, as they started the weekend with a 10-0 win over Wayne State College, NE.
Lauren Sturdivant keyed the Warriors against Augustana with her 11th and 12 goals of the season by scoring the first goal at 4:30 and then wrapping up the scoirng at 89:21. In between, Kendal Straessel and Richelle Shannon scored the second and third goals respectively in the first period and then Melissa Sellier added the fourth goal of the match at 81:38.
WSU goalkeeper Amanda Diehm once again got plenty of help from her defensive teammates, as she needed to stop only one shot on goal. For the game, Augustana finished with 11 shots and WSU had 20.
It was the 12th consecutive win for the Warriors and seventh straight shutout victory for WSU.
